Five-star Morocco makes it three wins from three
FIFA World Cup semi-finalist Morroco cruised past Central African Republic in their Africa Cup of Nations Group B qualifer, winning 5-0 at Honneur Stadium in Oujda.
The Atlas Lions did all the damage in the first half, with Abde Ezzalzouli scoring the opening goal in the 18th minute before Azzedine Ounahi doubled the lead with a sumptuous curling effort from outside the box on 38 minutes.
Ounahi then teed up captain Achraf Hakimi after the pair exchanged a brilliat one-two to on the edge of the box to make it 3-0 on 45 minutes before Ouhani completed his brace in first-half stoppage-time two minutes later as the hosts went in at the break four goals to the good.
Central African Republic had no answers and conceded a penalty in the 71st minute, which Soufiane Rahimi easily converted after sending the goalkeeper the wrong way, adding gloss with a fifth goal and keeping his side perfect in the group and top of the table with a maximum of nine points from its three matches.
Morocco will host the Africa Cup of Nations in 2025 and will hope this form continues up to and throughout the tournament when it arrives.
