Cameroon blitz sees off Kenya's challenge
Cameroon beat Kenya 4-1 in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying after flurry of first-half goals blunted Kenya's challenge and saw the Indomitable Lions stay unbeaten in Group J.
Vincent Aboubakar put Cameroon ahead from the spot in the eighth minute and when Martin Hongla doubled the lead on 39 minutes thanks to a goalkeeping error, it looked like the hosts would cruise to victory.
But two minutes after Hongla's strike, Kenya halved the deficit from a free-kick, Michael Olunga heading home a pinpoint delivery at the far post.
Barely two minutes more had passed, though, and Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo settled things down when he tapped in at the other end to make it 3-1 before a half-time break everybody needed.
The second half was a less frantic affair, with Christian Bassogong rolling back the years to score Cameroon's fourth, sealing a second win in two matches to keep his side top of the group standings.
It was Kenya's first defeat in Group J, and it now sits third behind the Elephants and second-placed Zimbabwe, with Namibia propping up that trio with no wins from its three matches thus far.
