Arsenal's Jesus to undergo surgery on ACL injury
Gabriel Jesus is set for a long spell on the sidelines after suffering an ACL injury against Manchester United in the FA Cup.
Arsenal have confirmed Gabriel Jesus has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and will undergo surgery.
The Brazilian was stretchered off in the first half of Arsenal's FA Cup third-round loss to Manchester United on Sunday after twice going down to receive treatment.
Mikel Arteta had confirmed in his press conference on Tuesday that the club were "very worried" about the extent of the injury, with the club since confirming he had sustained the injury to his left knee.
Jesus has scored three goals in the Premier League this season from an expected goals (xG) total of 3.0 in 17 top-flight appearances, though he has started just six games.
Overall, Jesus has netted seven times in all competitions this season, including a hat-trick against Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup.
The striker joins Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri on the sidelines, leaving the Gunners with Kai Havertz as their sole striker option.
