Amorim keen to 'help' Mount after latest injury setback
Mason Mount is set for another lengthy spell on the sidelines, though Ruben Amorim is keen to make the most of his time off the pitch.
Ruben Amorim says he will "help" Mason Mount through his injury struggles after confirming the midfielder will miss "several weeks".
Mount made just his fourth start in the Premier League against Manchester City last Sunday but lasted just 14 minutes before he was forced off with a leg injury.
Since joining Manchester United from Chelsea last July, the 25-year-old has been limited to just 32 appearances in all competitions, netting just one goal and registering one assist in that time.
He has already missed two months of the current campaign due to hamstring and head injuries, and Amorim admitted he did not know the full extent of Mount's latest absence.
"Several weeks; I don't know the exact date, but it's going to be for a long [time]," Amorim said. "It's part of football and you have to continue.
"What I can do is to help Mason to teach him how to play our game when he's recovering. Try to use that time for him to think about different things.
"The worst part is that we don't have time to train like we should do when you are recovering from a lot of injuries.
"We are always travelling, have games, we don't have all the team together, so this makes it really hard to recreate the games before they come to the [actual] game."
Overall this term, Mount has been limited to just 413 minutes in all competitions, having also endured an injury-hit first season in Manchester, in which he missed five months.
In a post on Instagram on Friday, Mount said: "Words can't portray how devastated I'm feeling right now, you could probably see the look on my face when it happened. I knew what it meant.
"United fans, you may not know me too well yet, but one thing I can guarantee, I will never give up or lose faith.
"I've said this before, but I will continue to give everything, get through this tough period and won't stop until it's achieved."
