Roma starts De Rossi reign with victory
Daniele De Rossi made the perfect start as Roma's new coach as he watched his side claim a 2-1 victory over Hella Verona in Serie A.
Romelu Lukaku and Lorenzo Pellegrini had the hosts 2-0 up inside the first 25 minutes after Stephan El Shaarawy orchestrated both goals.
The hosts broke the deadlock when El Shaarawy ran into the box before passing to an unmarked Lukaku, who bagged his ninth goal of the league season.
El Shaarawy then flicked a cross towards Pellegrini six minutes later at the back post and the midfielder volleyed into the roof of the net.
Verona pulled one back in the 76th minute when Michael Folorunsho fired home from distance after Roma keeper Rui Patricio allowed the ball to slip through his gloves.
Roma, which sacked Jose Mourinho last week, is eighth on the Serie A table with 32 points, while 18-placed Verona is in the relegation zone with 17 points.
