Conte Eyes Lukaku and Osimhen, to Chelsea: Exchange on the Horizon?
Close to becoming Napoli’s coach, Antonio Conte has reportedly asked the Napoli management to sign the Belgian striker.
The duo is on the front page of "Gazzetta dello Sport." Antonio Conte and Romelu Lukaku could soon reunite under the same colors and in Italy. According to the Italian sports daily, both could be heading to Napoli soon.
The case of the coach is the clearest. In fact, he should sign with the 2023 Italian champions in the next few days. The last details of the contract are being finalized, and the main sticking point, the contract duration, seems to have been resolved, as Aurelio De Laurentiis has reportedly agreed to offer him three seasons, instead of the initial two seasons plus an optional third. If everything goes as planned, Antonio Conte will become one of the highest-paid coaches in the world with an estimated salary of 8 million euros per year. A crazy move that the Napoli chairman has accepted, eager to bring the Lecce native at any cost.
Lukaku instead of Osimhen Antonio Conte not only negotiated his salary and secured the guarantee of bringing his trusted staff but also provided names to strengthen his future team. The first is Romelu Lukaku. The coach knows the Belgian striker well, having had much success with him at Inter Milan, winning a Scudetto and reaching the Europa League final, and he wants to sign him.
This seems like a real possibility this summer. Loaned to AS Roma this season, where he scored 21 goals in 47 matches across all competitions, Lukaku will return to London, where he is under contract with Chelsea. However, the English club wants to offload the striker, who hasn’t convinced and is expensive, with an estimated salary of 12 million euros. Napoli’s interest would be welcome, especially since there’s a possible trade option.
Decisive in 2022-2023 with 26 goals in Serie A, Victor Osimhen has slowed down with only 15 goals. More criticized in Naples, the 25-year-old Nigerian wants a change of scenery and, according to "Gazzetta dello Sport," dreams of playing in the Premier League, especially with Chelsea. The stars seem to align for both clubs and players to benefit, maybe through an exchange with financial compensations based on each player’s contract situation. One thing is sure, changes are coming to Naples.
