Fernando Gago lashes out in anger after losing the Superclásico to River Plate
Fernando Gago was clearly upset with the refereeing in the Superclásico that ended in a defeat for his Boca Juniors against River Plate, saying he was leaving with "anger over the result."
Criticism of the refereeing and frustration with the result
"In 20 minutes, we had three yellow cards, and I told the referee it seemed exaggerated. That put me in a situation where I might have had to make a change, since the game was getting quite rough," the losing manager said in the post-match press conference.
"I’m leaving angry with the result. We came here to win, and in the second half, we had chances, but we also made mistakes," he added.
Reflection on Boca's performance
Gago also analyzed Boca's performance over the 90 minutes: "We wanted to have more control of the game, which I can split into two parts. In the first half, we were lacking a bit of play, and in the second, we knew we’d have more pace and control."
Wrapping up his analysis of the Superclásico at the Estadio Monumental, Fernando Gago concluded: "I’ll analyze it later. I liked the second half; we had several clear chances to equalize, but unfortunately, it didn’t happen."
