Dani Ceballos Suffers Serious Injury at Real Madrid
The Andalusian midfielder injured his right ankle ligaments in the match against Real Betis. Here's how long he'll be sidelined.
Dani Ceballos suffered a sprained ankle during his first start of the season with Real Madrid against Real Betis, as confirmed by medical tests on Monday. The tests revealed a "Grade III sprain with ligament damage in the right ankle," which will sideline him for nearly two months.
"Following the tests conducted today on our player Dani Ceballos by Real Madrid's Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a Grade III sprain with ligament damage in the right ankle. Pending evolution," stated Real Madrid in a medical report.
Ceballos' injury is another setback for Carlo Ancelotti, who now faces five injuries in just over half a month of competition, three of them in midfield.
The team had already lost Frenchman Eduardo Camavinga and Englishman Jude Bellingham, both still facing another month of recovery.
The Andalusian midfielder started at the Santiago Bernabéu against Betis, the team he requested to leave for last week before the transfer window closed, but the Betis offer did not meet Madrid's financial demands.
Unfortunately, during the match, he suffered a severe ankle twist that damaged his ligaments, with a recovery period expected to be between six to eight weeks, depending on his progress.
