Messi Responds to Mbappé: Is the Euro Better Than the Copa América?
Lionel Messi, captain of the Argentina national team, has responded to comments made by his former PSG teammate, Kylian Mbappé, regarding the comparative difficulty of the Euros, the World Cup, and even the Copa América.
A few days ago, the now Real Madrid forward stated that "the Euro is more difficult than the World Cup," prompting Messi to share his viewpoint in an interview with ESPN. The Argentine star acknowledged that while the Euro presents a high level of complexity, it "lacks world champions" and hinted that the World Cup is a better tournament because "everyone wants to be champions."
"The Euros is a very important competition with great teams, but it excludes Argentina, three-time world champions, Brazil, five-time world champions, and Uruguay, two-time world champions. There are many world champions left out, so to say it's the most difficult is not accurate. The World Cup has the best teams, all the world champions, and there's a reason why everyone wants to win the World Cup," said the Inter Miami star.
Mbappé and the rest of the French team will face the Netherlands, Poland, and Austria in the Euros, while Argentina and Messi will compete against Peru, Chile, and Canada in the Copa América.
