CONMEBOL Invalidates Hundreds of Resold Tickets for the Sudamericana Final
CONMEBOL announced on Friday that it invalidated approximately 900 tickets for a section of the stadium designated for Brazilian club Cruzeiro in the Sudamericana final against Argentina's Racing, after detecting that Brazilian purchasers had resold passes to Argentine fans.
In a statement to Monumental Radio, CONMEBOL's Commercial Manager Juan Emilio Roa revealed that they detected "over 900 tickets in the Cruzeiro section in the possession of Argentines, with Argentine documents," which were invalidated for "security reasons."
"These 900 tickets with Argentine documents, identified in the Brazilian sector behind Cruzeiro's goal, those tickets were invalidated and the money from the ticket purchase is returned to the original Brazilian buyer," explained Roa, clarifying that the passes were not purchased on CONMEBOL's page.
The manager reminded that the resale of tickets for the decisive match of the Sudamericana, to be held on Saturday at 'La Nueva Olla' stadium in Asunción, is "prohibited," as is the admission of Argentine or Brazilian fans in sections opposite those of their teams.
"We do not allow the resale of tickets, nor the admission of Argentines in the Brazilian sector, or Brazilians in the Argentine sector, behind the goals, strictly for security reasons," he detailed.
Roa added that they have contacted the 900 Argentine holders and the original Brazilian buyers to resolve each case with the Customer Service of the ticket sales service.
"There are two options: the return of the money to the original buyer or restitution," he anticipated.
Furthermore, he pointed out that their digital systems trigger alarms when Argentine identity documents are detected in zones exclusively for Brazilians and vice versa.
