Belgium beat Romania 2-0 to kickstart Euro 2024 campaign
A Youri Tielemans goal after two minutes set Belgium on their way to a 2-0 win against Romania on Saturday, reigniting his side's hopes of reaching the last-16 of Euro 2024 after a surprise defeat in their opening match.
Belgium flew out of the traps when Romelu Lukaku laid the ball off to the onrushing Tielemans to flash home a right-footed drive from 19 yards.
Lukaku thought he had doubled the lead just after the hour but was adjudged offside by VAR, however Kevin De Bruyne later struck to seal the win as Belgium joined the rest of Group E on three points each.
